Planning and Project Evaluation Conception of projects in their technical, environmental, economic and social aspects, integrating the areas of planning, surveying, hydrology, geology, hydraulics, wastewater, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical and highway engineering, in order to generate the least possible impact on the project’s biotic, abiotic and socioeconomic components, as well as the best possible results and highest profit in the owner’s interest. Feasibility Studies In this phase INGETEC seeks a final decision regarding the development of the project and the detailed definition of its main technical characteristics as well as an optimum construction schedule in accordance with requirements set by the owner. As a next step during this phase, INGETEC analyzes the selected alternative in greater depth, gathering all possible existing primary information and data for the various studies that comprise the project. A staged construction of certain components is evaluated if it implies an overall benefit to the project and to the owner. Design of Multidisciplinary Projects This process seeks development, in an integrated and detailed manner, of the best alternative as defined by the feasibility studies. For each of the disciplines involved, the detail engineering designs, drawings and budgets are prepared, as well as those elements required to define computation sheets and technical reports that include and serve as the basic characteristics and parameters for each of the project’s components, whether hydroelectric, industrial, oil or highway, amongst others. Construction Supervision INGETEC renders construction supervision services for the projects commissioned to the company, consisting in the planned technical, administrative, financial and contractual supervision of civil works. This includes the manufacturing, erection, startup and commissioning of main electromechanical and appurtenant electronic control equipment, preparation and advisement for the implementation of environmental and social management and mitigation measures for the project’s area of influence, as well as for the development of financial resources, investment cash flow, accountancy and administrative advisement of equipment supply. The scope of advisement services always includes the development and implementation of quality assurance systems for all the project’s components entrusted to the company. Inspection During Manufacturing Consists in the inspection, verification and control of compliance of provisions stipulated in the technical specifications for equipment, materials, manufacturing processes, shop and performance testing and compliance with the approved quality control plan, as well as progress control with respect to approved manufacturing schedules. Progress control is done through inspections carried out by assigned personnel or a resident engineer, according to each case. Upon applying previous experiences and the best engineering practice, recommendations are made for adjustments and/or improvement of equipment, thus contributing to the optimum development and compliance with the assigned tasks subjected to such inspections. Start-up and Commissioning For each component, set and system, verification of compliance of agreed-on testing is carried out to certify proper performance and subsequent commissioning of equipment. Verification is done through intervention of the resident engineer who controls the activities performed by manufacturer startup and commissioning personnel. Project Management In response to the changes that have been taking place in recent decades within corporate and governmental institutions, encouraging new developments in the production sectors and refocusing on project operation and life cycles within new and demanding quality, time and cost parameters, INGETEC has developed and consolidated its project management services to meet such needs. Project management is an essential tool for our clients to successfully complete their projects, as it allows conducting adequate planning, projection and execution of activities to develop and meet project schedules according to organizational, quality and resources optimization standards. Project management processes deal with planning, scheduling, controlling and undertaking a series of activities that progressively lead to timely and successful completion of a project, by braking objectives down into measurable indicators. Successful management of a project implies efficient management of resources within contractual schedule and budget, complying with quality requirements set by the client. To achieve such goals, INGETEC S.A. has among its staff, experienced and certified professionals in the area of Project Management (PMP). Environmental Studies The rendering of consulting services for environmental studies comprises the various project development phases, in which environmental and social diagnoses are given for project alternatives, environmental impact statements during all project stages and the preparation of social and environmental management plans. The environmental impact studies include diagnosis of the physical, biotic and social environment, the identification and evaluation of impacts and risk analysis and the design of environmental and social management plans, as well as follow-up, monitoring and contingency plans whenever social management is included. Among such activities are: the active participation by the communities involved through participative diagnosis, work shops and advisement during consultation and compromise procedures for the various project management plans. Services related to environmental studies include land and basin use studies, rural development projects, and participation in environmental control studies as part of general project management, environmental advisement and supervision during design and construction of engineering projects. Tender Documents INGETEC renders engineering services for the preparation of tender drawings and documentation required for project bidding purposes. This task includes, among other aspects, preparation of tender drawings, technical specifications, precontractual documentation for procurement and supply of main electromechanical equipment, materials, mechanical and electrical auxiliary equipment and project operation control equipment. The company is credited with ample experience in the preparation of studies and analysis of bids for construction of civil works and for the design, supply manufacturing, transportation and erection of equipment. Economic and Financial Studies As part of services rendered, INGETEC undertakes the economic study of engineering projects, including budget estimates, construction and investment schedules for the work, and the financial study of alternatives to evaluate their economic viability. The cost/benefit ratio is considered, the net present worth (NPW) and the internal rate of return (IRR), through the cash flow deduction method, with results expressed in constant value. Consultancy During Construction The complexity of certain projects designed by Ingetec S.A. require technical consultancy during construction to optimize and complete the design according to actual conditions encountered during construction. Such scope allows the client to make timely inquiries and clarifications on technical aspects that arise during the construction stage, thus minimizing the chance of claims and contractual disputes related to the design. Additionally, technical consultancy during construction allows development of less costly projects because the designer can develop less conservative projects as designs adjust to encountered field conditions. Technical consultancy services rendered by INGETEC include advisement during construction of civil works, supervision during manufacturing and erection of main and appurtenant electromechanical and electronic control equipment, including preparation of test protocols, elaboration of inspection, manufacturing and transportation reports of main and complementary equipment, such as electric power substations, switchyards and power transmission lines. The company also renders consultancy services during project startup and commissioning. Contractual Management INGETEC performs such task as a contribution, complementation and support to the technical aspect of the contract, which implies legal aspects that begin with the preparation of tender documents of the works and the analysis of bids throughout the development of the project. During development of the diverse areas of engineering in which the company works in, it has attended to, analyzed, evaluated and advised during negotiations regarding claims, additional work, acknowledgement of extra costs and extension in time for completion due to change of initial conditions, breach of contract, incidentals, economic and financial problems, representativity of price adjustment formulas, devaluation, inflation, taxes and other related topics. INGETEC’s support in these contractual matters has contributed in the resolve of this type of problems in the best interest of the owner. Administrative Supervision Comprises the management of land institutions during project development, wherefore the team in charge of this task interacts directly with city and town mayors and administrative department governors, as well as with pertinent offices, such as the Planning, Public Works, Public Utilities and Treasury Departments. When dealing with institutions constituted by corporations or other organizations, the relationship is established with project management. Likewise, tasks are undertaken in coordination with interdisciplinary teams for the administrative, financial and technical follow-up of projects financed with government resources.
