Services rendered:

Engineering supervision of the following works commissioned from the Contractor:

  • Design, fabrication, nationalization, transportation, erection, start-up and commissioning of turbines, speed regulators, generators, voltage and excitation regulators and grounding, auxiliary mechanical and electrical equipment, power transformers, substation, control and communications.
  • Design, supply of materials and construction of civil works for the foundation slabs for equipment and powerhouse, control building, administration building, substation building, warehouse, workshop, laboratory, access roads, ancillary works, drainage works, superintendent’s office and surveillance box.
  • Environmental management - Biophysical component. Compliance with environmental management plans, permit and license processing required by the environmental authorities, compliance with environmental legislation and mitigation of unforeseen impacts within the project’s natural environment. Air pollution control, occupational health and industrial safety, solid and liquid waste treatment, quarry protection and reclamation, environmental management of the gas pipe corridor, river underpasses and new high- voltage transmission lines.
  • Environmental management - social component. Accompaniment rendered to the community affected by the project, environmental awareness and education programs given to the community, creation of new jobs, and landscape, right-of-way and recreational areas.

Technical characteristics:

Turbogroups: Two turbo generating units, each with a 150 MW gas-operated turbine and a 211 MVA three-phase, hydrogen-cooled, synchronous generator at 3 000 rpm and 18 kV.

Gas supply to the plant: Underground gas pipe, f = 14” 2,800 m long, including a 780-m long river underpass.

Substation: A 18 400 m² switchyard divided into the power generation area and the 230 kV power transformers area. The substation has a 633-m² steel and concrete control building.

Fire fighting system: Diesel, electric and Jockey pumps. Smoke-detecting equipment and sprinkler system. Foam system for liquid fuel tanks.

Dock: Lateral-type dock on the Magdalena River with three disembarkation levels and its corresponding access platforms to the plant.

Railway: Equipment and fuel oil transportation alternative. Railway branch between La Dorada and Puerto Berrío, 590 m long, of which 150 are double-track.

Power station: 3,120 m² steel structure housing two turbo generators and corresponding ancillary equipment.

Control and administration building: Two-story reinforced concrete structure with an area of 1,380 m².

Water treatment plant: 365 m² steel structure housing demineralized water production equipment and raw, effluent and sewer water treatment equipment.

Shop and storage facility: 1,585 m² steel structure housing the shop, the plant maintenance warehouse and auxiliary offices.

Camps: prefabricated structures mounted on cast-in-place concrete slabs, covering an area of 1,495 m², with access roads and water and wastewater utilities, a fire-fighting network, electric power and voice-and-data communications equipment.
