Salvajina
Concrete face gravel and rockfill dam, 148 m high, and 400 m long crest.
In order to undertake construction of the dam, an upstream low-permeability
core cofferdam and two 800-m long tunnels to divert the river were constructed.
The reservoir is 26 km long, has a total capacity of 906 Mm³, and
floods an area of 2.031 hectares.
The project has two circular cross-section diversion tunnels that are
concrete-lined between the intake structure and the valve chamber, changing
to a horseshoe cross-section with a flat concrete invert between the
valve chamber and the downstream portals. Tunnel diameters are 7.6 m
and 8.4 m, respectively, and have a combined length of 1.583 m.
The power plant houses three vertical-axis Francis units, with a total
capacity of 270 MW; included are three 4.0 m in diameter butterfly valves,
three synchronous-type generators, with a capacity of 100 MVA and three
three-phase power transformers.
Transmission lines are 230 kV, double circuit-type, 72 km long.
