Rio Frio


The Rio Frio Project was developed by the Tulua Electric Power Company. The main civil structure of the project corresponds to the construction of a 10.0 MW hydroelectric power plant that includes two shafts and Francis-type turbines to generate 5 MW. The maximum pond level is 122 m which is conveyed through a surface penstock 292 m long.

Services rendered:

Ingetec S.A. was in charge both of the detail designs as well as the technical and contractual advisements during construction of the civil works and the erection of electromechanical equipment.

Main characteristics:

• 10 MW electric power plant
• Two shafts and turbines generating 5 MW each.
• Steel penstock 292 m long.
• Concrete gravity dam 8 m high and 60 m long.
