Mesitas
Mesitas Hydroelectric Project comprises two in-series power plants:
El Paraíso and La Guaca. The main structures of the project are:
El Paraiso Power Station:
The
power station is composed of a 12.4-km long headrace tunnel, with circular
and horseshoe concrete-lined cross-sections, 4.2 m and 4.8 m in diameter,
respectively, and a 3.7 m diameter steel liner in some sectors.
The surface power plant houses three vertical-axis Pelton turbines,
that generate 92 MW each. It also includes three 100 MVA generators,
two three-phase power transformers and two bridge cranes.
A 177 m long vertical shaft of circular cross-section and inner concrete-lined
diameter of 4.2 m.
La Guaca Powerhouse:
The power station includes a 3.259 m long both smooth and banded steel
penstock.
A surface powerhouse includes three Pelton vertical-axis Pelton turbines,
three generators and two bridge cranes cranes.
A 184 long vertical steel-lined shaft of circular cross-section, 3.1
m in diameter.
Muña III Pumping Station:
Located 18 km south of Bogota, the station has a maximum pumping head
of 37.5 m. The pumping station houses three vertical-axis Francis pumps,
with a capacity of 17.5 m/s each, two three-phase power transformers
and a pumping discharge line 420 m long and
3.5 m in diameter.
