Chingaza
The Chingaza Project is the most attractive fresh water source for the
City of Bogotá’s water supply system. The eastbound Guatiquía
and Chuza Rivers were diverted by gravity back into the Chuza reservoir,
whereas other watercourses of the west Rio Blanco watershed area were
diverted into the free-flow portion of the main tunnel.
The first stage comprised of the following structures:
- Golillas
Dam: 127-m high concrete face gravel fill structure.
- Chuza
Reservoir: 223 Mm³, impounding the 6,4 m³/sec Chuza River.
- Diversion
of Guatiquía River´s 5,9 m³/s average flow into
the Chuza reservoir, by means of a 3,0 m diameter, 3,2-km long tunnel,
with a maximum capacity of 30 m³/sec, and Leticia Creek’s
200 lt/sec mean flow, through a 300-m long gallery.
- Chuza
– Wiesner Treatment Plant conveyance system: 37,7 km long, with
a flow capacity of 25 m³/sec, comprises the following sectors:
- Palacio - Rio Blanco Tunnel: 28,4-km long and variable diameter
of 2,7 m and 3,7 m.
- Simayá Channel: 0,3 km long.
- El Faro tunnel: 0,9 km long.
- Simayá concrete pipe: 4,5 km long and 3,0 m diameter.
- Siberia tunnel: 3,0 km long.
- Teusacá siphon: 0,6 km long.
- Rio Blanco
conveyance intake structures, composed of 26 intakes that intercept
a series of creeks with a total flow of
3,0 m³/sec, 13 km of surface pipes and four shafts that discharge
into the free-flow portion of the Palacio – Rio Blanco Tunnel.
- Francisco
Wiesner Treatment Plant, with a nominal capacity of 14 m³/sec,
direct filtration system, composed of a stilling tank and a spillway,
a quick-mix hydraulic structure, a system of 16 filters and a potable
water storage tank.
- Wiesner
Plant – City Conveyance System, composed of the following sectors:
- 0,4-km long pipe.
- 2,2-km long Usaquén tunnel.
- 300-m long Santa Bárbara tunnel.
- 0,5-km long Santa Ana pipe (connects to the northbound distribution
network).
- 9,0-km long Los Rosales tunnel (connects to the southbound distribution
network)
