aspect: institutional development.
Main

Potable water:
Supply studies for the refurbishing of existing plants were performed
as well as improvement in the pumping of raw water and optimization
of the pumping of treated water. The Alta 4 Pumping Station and ancillary
and substations and 6,330 m of 48" diameter conduits were put into
service. Additionally, 17,000 m of distribution pipes were installed
in the southwestern area with varying diameters between 10" and
36"; a 5,000-m³ storage tank was constructed and secondary
pipes installed. An additional 17,000 m of distribution pipes were installed
in Northern Barranquilla to provide adequate water supply to the higher
areas of the city.
Wastewater:
The north sewage collectors (6,500 m) were designed and assessment was
provided to the project owner to carry out the work under the added-value
system, as the benefit allows for an efficient development of the area.
In
the southwest zone two 400 m x 200 m oxidation ponds were built, a pumping
station was designed, the final effluent installed and collector procurement
for the area adjacent to the oxidation pond set out for bid.
Institutional
development:
In
this area the leakage-control program was designed, advisement was provided
for the implementation of a new commercial system, the installation
of 60,000 gauge meters, the study for the installation of macrometers,
